What does this really mean? I am shopping for a sub-compact diesel tractor (JD2210 or BX2230), and I came across this term at the JD web site. I learned from reading the post here that dealer support is very important. So I was trying to get more insights on the dealers (JD and Kubota) in my area (Maryland).
A lot of the JD dealers listed on their web site has this "distinction" -- I would like to know your experience with some of the "Gold Certified JD dealers".
One more question : my JD dealer gave me a quote for a JD2210 with 62 inch MMM and 210 FEL for about $12,850. He did not include the dual mid selective control valve (It’s an option with a list price of $700).
Do I need it? Is this something I can install later after I brought the tractor? I am also not sure if the price includes ballast so I need to call him back to verify. Should I buy the Ballast box instead?

hwongusa; I can't say I've ever heard the term "Gold Star Certified". It must be a Deere recognition of a dealer for outstanding sales, service, customer satisfaction, or something on that order. Yes dealer support is extremely important to you. Seems like I have one of those things happen now and then that nobody ever heard of that happening before type deals. It keeps me pretty dealer loyal when my dealer allways steps up to the plate and takes care of it without any hassle. I'm not familar enough with the 2210 to know how they lift the MMM, so be sure that the dual misd selective valve is'nt needed for the MMM. You ask about a ballast box, does that mean you're going to get a FEL? If so you will need the mid valve for it. I've never installed one myself so I don't know what's involved. I'd sure recommend ordering the valve with the tractor, it won't be long before you're going to want a loader and other attchments, the last two Deeres I've bought I ordered with the third valve for a rear outlet. You need two things with the FEL: the SCV to operate it and some type of rear counterweight. When pricing my 2210, the dealer listed the SCV separately because it is fairly expensive and used for multiple attachments. On the other hand, he included the rear ballast box in a single line item quote for the FEL since he considered it a necessary part of the package. Hopefully your dealer included it too. ....

Here's a link to JD that describes the gold star certified program. It seems that every time I buy a new implement or get my tractor serviced through my dealer I receive a survey in the mail from JD wanting to know how they did. I imagine these surveys are used as a factor in rating the dealers. ....

Tractor must have the dual scv to operate loader. His price is very fair. Also it cost the same to have the scv option put on at the factory as it cost to buy it in a box. Let the factory put it on. It save you labor plus it's more likely to be done correctly.
The weight box is good inexpensive loader ballast. You could also use an implement like a box blade etc.
JD dealers are graded on almost every aspect of the dealership. Appearance, Inventory, Employee training, customer satisfaction, etc. Dealers who achieve the Gold star rating recieve extra incentives from JD. ....
